At least you can disable them:
Action (f.i. beforedisplay on slide):
NAVIGATION(Navigation Objects='Buttons Next and Back', Action='Disable') shows the disabled button.
If the disabled button is a 1x1 transparent gif, it seems hidden.

I put in the disable image a transparent gif, so when I disable it, that space shows nothing.
