Translation and Glossary capabilities?
  View type:
I'm considering using CourseLab for the training programmes provided by our international organization.

We should ideally be able to translate our courses without the translator needing to install and learn to use CourseLab. Is there a way to export all the text content in a translation file (common format, such as CSV, for example), and then import the translation back into CourseLab?

Another feature we're looking for is an automated glossary. In other terms, we'd like to be able to define glossary entries (ex. entry name = EU, entry description = European Union), and then have all corresponding entries in the course automatically link to the entry in the glossary (ex. every time "EU" is mentioned in the course, it is automatically made into a hyperlink to the "EU" glossary entry).

Grateful for any feedback!

Hi Pierre,
One of your queries has appeared before...
If you look at a 'published' module the content is all contained in the file 1.xml found in the folder named 1.
The text is in there and isn't really demaracted that well. Text is usualy wrapped within a CDATA block and flagged as '<' TEXT '>';. Substituting it isn't going to be a simple process to automate although you could probably have a secondary app to find marked blocks and sequentially pull translate and then substitute. The formatting tags would also need parsing.
Of course you are then assuming that the translation actually works, I think that you are being rather hopeful there in getting anything like 100% accuracy. Someone will always have to proof read the content and confirm the translation has worked properly.
Formatting where fixed would also suffer and filling fixed size objects might be another point of failure.
For example
On the glossary automation that would need changes within the functional code of Courselab itself, possibly some kind of 'glossary' action. I don't think that this would be easy to retrofit.
You'd need one of the dev team to look at this.
